Codes Changing Slowly To Meet Radon Threat

Despite concern over the problem of radon gas in houses, a
national model construction code to control radon appears to be
several years away. A handful of jurisdictions around the
country-including some in the Washington area-have decided not to
wait for national codes and are taking their own steps to reduce the
cancer-causing gas in new homes.
Most states and local governments wait for several national
building code organizations to issue new codes before making changes
