Students Speak Out: Should the United States continue to fund space exploration?

Considering the recent success of the space shuttle Discovery,
what is your opinion of the United States' continued role in the
exploration of outer space?
My opinion of the American society's role in space is mixed. I
believe that the space program should continue, but I also believe
that it should not. I believe that if they should find an alien
being in space, it would be to our advantage. On the other hand, I
have a different opinion about the government putting billions of
dollars into the program, and yet claiming that they don't have
enough money to feed and house the homeless in the ...
