Safety probe as stones fall from Castle Rock on to road

A SPECIALIST team was today set to examine the safety of
Edinburgh's Castle Rock after parts of the ancient stone crumbled
onto the road below.
Historic Scotland's dedicated "rock squad" was expected to abseil
down to check the condition of the surface to prevent further falls.
Rocks fell onto Johnson Terrace on Saturday evening due to erosion
caused by the recent cold and wet weather conditions.
The road remained closed this morning while police awaited the
arrival of experts to ensure the area was safe.
Historic Scotland, which owns the Castle, sent teams out to
inspect the damage ...
