A HOTEL worker from the Capital has set himself the gruelling challenge of climbing the highest mountain in each of the world's seven continents.

Mostafa Mahmoud, from Montpelier Park in Bruntsfield, has just completed a 17-day trek to the summit of Vinson Massif, which is the highest mountain in Antarctica and is climbed by only a small number of people each year.

The 34-year-old, who is originally from Jordan, has now set his sights on conquering Mount Everest in March and hopes to complete his quest of climbing all seven mountains by early 2006.
