Why Edinburgh's mystery success is down to a tale of two cities

IT'S not somewhere that's notorious for its high levels of crime.
Of course, like any big city, Edinburgh has its share - although it's
probably less than a fair one.
Over the past 12 months, there have been only six murders in
Edinburgh. In contrast, Strathclyde Police say that there were 70
murders in Glasgow in 2003 and 55 so far this year.
As a Lothian and Borders Police spokesman says: "The number of
murders and serious crime in Edinburgh is relatively low compared to
other major cities across Scotland, the UK and Europe.
"We only had six murders in the city during the last 12 months - ...
