PHILIP CONTINI readily admits that, in a manner of speaking, he's not unlike some of the goods displayed in the front shop at Valvona & Crolla, where he is managing director. He's an old showbiz ham.

Can't get this strolling troubadour bit out of his system. This will be his 11th year performing on the premises in the Fringe, a two- and-half week residency last year, this time an additional week, from August 5 to 29.

Another cosy collaboration with musician Mike Maran for the main event in the 70-seat theatre and, although the theme inevitably is Italian, expect a switch.
