House prices up 15 per cent but market 'cooling'

HOUSE prices across Edinburgh and the Lothians jumped almost 15 per cent over the last year, new figures today revealed.

But experts admitted the region's red-hot housing market appeared to be "easing" as the average cost of a property hit GBP 147,404 during the third quarter.

While that represented an increase of almost GBP 20,000 per home, it was less than the increase the previous year when prices rocketed by nearly 24 per cent.
