Pye pledges to pay coach Barrie back by inflicting defeat

RUARIDH PYE has pledged to repay visiting coach Kevin Barrie for vital encouragement that has turned him into what many regard as the BT Rugby Premiership's latest sensation - by helping Currie send his Hawick charges to defeat at Malleny Park tomorrow.

Pye has begun his senior career in swashbuckling style with tries in each of his first two appearances as Currie stand on the brink of a rare "hat-trick" of victories.

But he insists he would not have been playing at all had Barrie, during a stint as Currie coach until moving to Hawick at the end of last season, not taken him under his wing ...
