Anglo American digs up forecast-beating rise
|
MINING giant Anglo American today unveiled a two per cent rise in
half-year profits, well above analysts' forecasts, but warned the
outlook for its key businesses remain challenging.
The world's third-biggest miner said strong performances from
diamonds, paper and packaging and industrial minerals more than
offset the lower contributions from platinum, gold and coal.
But chief executive Tony Trahar added: "The low growth forecasts
for the United States, Japan and much of Euroland remain of concern.
