City fear as Scottish Water to axe 900 jobs

STAFF at Scottish Water's Edinburgh office were today facing an uncertain future amid the reports 900 jobs are to be lost across the country in a bid to slash costs by around 100 million pounds.

The company has launched a voluntary redundancy scheme which it hopes will remove almost a fifth of the company's 4700 employees over the next year.

It will affect workers in all departments across Scotland in an attempt to improve competition and cut costs.

But angry union officials say they will be calling on the government to investigate .
