Blindness link to children's fear of dark

SOME children's fear of the dark could be due to a rare form of
night blindness, an expert claimed today.
Many children are scared of the dark and this is often seen as
attention-seeking behaviour or an irrational fear that will disappear
with time.
However, research in today's British Medical Journal said in some
children it could be due to night blindness, a diagnosis that could
easily be missed.
The authors, led by Gordon Dutton, a consultant ophthalmologist at
Garnavel General Hospital in Glasgow, outline two cases of congenital
stationary night blindness.
