Reagan Calls to Congratulate Rowan `on Winning the Case'; President Terms Prosecution `an Outrage'

Columnist Carl T. Rowan, who blasted D.C. officials Thursday for what he called his "malicious, political prosecution" on firearms charges, got a comforting call yesterday from another well-known Washingtonian-President Reagan.

Rowan said in an interview that the call came early, "about 8:30, before {Reagan} left for Michigan" to campaign for the Republican presidential ticket, and that the president "congratulated me on winning the case" and said "he thought it was an outrage that the city tried to prosecute me."
