Sooner or later, every parent becomes something of an expert on dinosaurs. Kids love the beasts, and every child I've known goes through a dinosaur phase. They build models of them, draw pictures of them and learn a smattering of scientific data. One lesson that dinosaurs teach, however, soon seems to be forgotten: Since time immemorial, nature has been on an extermination binge.
