Grave matter of 1.3m pounds refit for Greyfriars

HISTORIC Greyfriars Kirk and its famous graveyard is to undergo a facelift costing up to 1.3 million pounds.

The 17th-century church is set to get its biggest refurbishment in almost 70 years and more than 800 monuments will be restored in the kirkyard - providing public appeals raise enough money to pay for part of the work.

The famous stained-glass windows at the Greyfriars Tolbooth and Highland Kirk will be restored and protected from vandals as part of a refurbishment costing just over GBP 1m.

Work will also be carried out on the roof and exterior stonework and new facilities installed ...
