WHAT do Paul Daniels, Sunny Delight, On the Buses and a 17-year- old tampon all have in common? The sell-out audience that battled last night's torrential rain to see Lancashire's funniest lass, Victoria Wood, could tell you.

The stage of the Festival Theatre the 5ft 5in dynamo of mirth from Manchester had them laughing in the aisles as she brought a welcome ray of sunshine to the 2000-seat venue.

Wood wasted no time before launching into her very individual brand of observational humour that manages to be laid back in a rapid fire sort of way.
