Samuel Jr. Samuel Alexander, Jr., entered this earthly realm on
December 21, 1930 through the late Lendora Foley (d. 1973) and Samuel
Alexander (d. 1975) in Natchez, Miss. His early years were nurtured
at the knee of his paternal grandmother, "Mamu," and educated in the
Mississippi public school system. He graduated from high school in
1948 receiving both academic and athletic scholarships. Samuel chose
to enter the military in 1950, serving as a cook during the Korean
