United States Advances to Men's Volleyball Semifinals
|
The U.S. men's volleyball team remained on course for a second
consecutive gold medal by routing winless Tunisia, 15-4, 15-5, 15-4,
on Monday.
In their final preliminary-round match, the Americans overpowered
the Tunisians in just longer than one hour. The United States enters
the semifinals with a 5-0 record.
With the match's outcome never in doubt, U.S. Coach Marv Dunphy
gave considerable playing time to substitutes Dave Saunders, Scott
Fortune and Jon Root. Craig Buck, the usual starting middle blocker,
sat out the whole match and captain Karch Kiraly played only in the
first game.
