The homefolk back in the States may not pay much attention to
this U.S. women's basketball team because Cheryl Miller, Lynette
Woodard and the McGee Twins aren't around.
But this U.S. team proved once again Tuesday that it has marquee
players who produce marquee results. U.S. women's basketball teams
have known a lot of frustration over the years against the Soviet
Union in international compeitition, but not Tuesday.
Cynthia Cooper's 27 points and Katrina McClain's 26 and 15
rebounds enabled the United States to defeat the Soviets, 102-88, and
advance to Thursday's gold medal game against ...
