Forget Star City. Call Roanoke the Song City of the South.

Last week I riffed about the new song "Star City," an ode to Roanoke written by local songwriters Don Muse and Steve Langston to commemorate the city's 125th anniversary. The column elicited plenty of responses from readers who recalled other musical tributes to our fair valley town.

From bluegrass instrumentals to marches to songs about nudie bars, Roanoke has inspired enough songs to fill a CD or two.
