Lightweight Ellis Posts Smashing Win Over South Korean

The South Korean fans sat quietly and applauded when this decision in favor of a U.S. boxer was announced.

Romallis Ellis recorded three standing eight-counts and battered South Korean fighter Lee Kang Suk without mercy Friday, giving the U.S. team a stirring victory in an Olympics lightweight bout.

Ellis, from Ellenwood, Ga., won a unanimous 5-0 decision in a fight that easily could have been stopped midway through the third round.

Ellis was tagged quite a few times in the first round. But he blasted his opponent hard in the second round and registered two standing eight-counts.
