John Stafford Taylor, Sr., 89, of Roanoke, Va., died on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 formerly from St. Louis, Mo. He was preceded in death by his wives, Elizabeth Van of Cleveland, Ohio, Virna Simril of St. Louis, Mo. and brother, James Vaughn Taylor of Richmond, Va. He was a graduate of Virginia Military Institute (class of 1940) with a major in Civil Engineering. He served in the Army throughout WWII with the Sixth U.S. Cavalry and Third Army.
