Sammy Cahn is a songwriter-a lyricist, really. He's one of the
few guys who'd dare put words in Frank Sinatra's mouth, the man who
made the whole world sing "I've Heard That Song Before." And plenty
of others.
At Ford's Theatre in "Words and Music," a spiffy showcase
summing up sixty-odd years of song writing, Cahn croons a few of his
own tunes-quite passably-and also proves he might have been a
storyteller if music hadn't snagged him first.
When Cahn's spinning one of his show-biz sagas, he makes you
feel like you're sharing a booth at the Carnegie Deli instead of a
straight-backed seat ...
