A THIRD OF ALL CATS DON'T RESPOND TO CATNIP LEAVES

We have two cats. One goes mad over her catnip toy while the other
one ignores it completely. Is this normal behavior? I thought all
cats liked catnip.
Only about 67 percent of cats react to catnip; the others ignore
it completely. A cat's response to catnip is controlled by an
inherited gene. If the cat does not have the gene, it will not
respond.
Cats do become immune to the effects of catnip over time,
especially if they are continually exposed to the volatile oil. It is
wise to limit a cat's exposure to catnip toys. The oil in catnip
