Edwards Leads U.S. Past Czechoslovakia

Teresa Edwards is the lightning rod of the U.S. women's
basketball team. Others get a charge through her.
"I'm a very competitive player, who loves to play in tough
games," Edwards said Monday after scoring 24 points in a taxing 87-81
victory over Czechoslovakia in the first women's game of the Summer
Olympics.
"I have to give it my all, and hopefully it will carry over to
the team. It's something I like and something I think Coach {Kay}
Yow likes from a leader."
Edwards, one of the team's captains, provided plenty of sparks in
Monday's game. She got the U.S. players off to a good start, ...
