The banned Solidarity trade union and the communist leadership of
Wojciech Jaruzelski agreed here today to open broad negotiations on
the country's future next month after a six-hour meeting in which
authorities pleaded for the opposition's patience in seeking
Solidarity's reinstatement.
Following the marathon session between a 10-member Solidarity
delegation led by union chief Lech Walesa and a government group led
