NOTEBOOK; Track Officials Rule No Action Warranted on Positive Drug Tests

Drug tests of athletes at the U.S. Olympic track and field trials in July indicated one case involving use of a sinus medication, one from use of a cold remedy and six probably from an herbal vitamin, The Athletics Congress reported yesterday in Indianapolis.

The athletes were not named, and investigations indicated no action should be taken against them, TAC said.

The announcement by TAC, national governing body for track and field in the United States, followed a Sept. 9 letter from Dr. Robert Voy, director of sports medicine and science for the U.S. Olympic Committee, to Ollan Cassell, ...
