Cow tipping?

Not only does James Bales know about it, the 50-year-old Roanoke plumber says he has done it.

It was about 20 years ago, when he and a buddy would visit a couple of girls at what was then Longwood College in Farmville.

They would get boozed up, drive into the country, find a sleeping cow and knock it over like a tackling dummy.

"You hit them hard enough, they will go down," Bales said, grinning.

This is how the cow-tipping story goes. Most versions include alcohol. All involve a snoozing cow, a shove and a mad dash back to the pickup.
