Pennyweight's recent ascent to the echelon of doggie stardom may seem in many ways predestined.

Just look at those velvety-soft ears; that butterscotch-colored coat of pure fuzzy bliss. The 9-year-old pooch simply has the kind of four-legged swagger that makes the customers at Jewells jewelry store swoon.

"She's a real dog diva," said Pennyweight's owner, Katharine Wells, 44, who also owns the jewelry store on Franklin Road in Southwest Roanoke.
