The 20th century may be a golden age of music, but it has also produced some of the most unpleasant compositions ever inflicted on human ears.

I don't mean simply heavy metal, disco and new age music-commercial forms that corporate greed and high-level technology have sprayed across our lives like defoliants in Vietnam. I mean music of classical aspirations, music that seeks a place in the lineage of Bach and Mozart.
