LOCOMOTIVE BACK ON TRACK AFTER ROLLING OFF PRIVATE LINE

A 130-ton locomotive was lifted back onto the tracks on Saturday four days after it plowed through stop barriers and derailed from a private railway line at the Cycle Systems plant off Wonju Street in Roanoke.

No one was hurt but the recycling plant's vice president Neal Brenner is still unsure of how it happened.

No operator was in the locomotive's cab when it began to roll away Wednesday afternoon, gaining speed as it moved across the plant's yards, which have a slight downward grade. Workers at the plant radioed each other with warnings and all personnel were cleared from the tracks.
