The new Roanoke Police Department building on Campbell Avenue will soon get $5 million in additional improvements.

Roanoke City Council was briefed Monday on the second phase of the police department construction that will include new evidence cataloging and storage rooms.

Work on the 29,000-square-foot expansion - which the city has been planning for several years - will begin sometime in the next few weeks and should be complete in 14 to 16 months, the council was told. The new addition will be built on the back of the building, which runs along an alley located between Church and Campbell ...
