Construction at Patrick Henry High School doesn't begin until next
month, but students already are seeing new classrooms and offices on
campus.
They arrived in white metal boxes. Some as small as the book
section at Target, others as large as a three-bedroom house.
Carpenters are building the wooden decks and ramps leading to the
doors.
"They aren't trailers," school employee Debbie Daniel said. "That
word has a negative connotation."
Administrators in Roanoke's school system call them "learning
cottages." Daniel, who serves as project manager of Patrick Henry's
