CLIFFORD GIVES UP JOB AS PH COACH FOOTBALL COACH HAD BEEN SUSPENDED

Kevin Clifford has dropped back and punted.

Clifford has resigned from his position as head football coach at Patrick Henry, five weeks after being found guilty of misdemeanor assault for slapping a Patriots player in November.

Clifford said Saturday he submitted his resignation to Patrick Henry principal Peter Wonson in a letter on Wednesday. He said he was advised to resign by his new attorney, Tony Anderson.

"He said, 'You might want to go ahead and do this,' " Clifford said. "I made up my mind about a month ago. I just want to get this over with and move on."
