ULTIMATUMS TO EMPLOYER USUALLY FUTILE

While listening to public radio the other day, I heard the story
of an employee who sent his employer a letter demanding that a large
sum of money be transferred to his account. If his demand wasn't met,
the letter said, he would turn his employer in to the tax
authorities. The German employer's response was to have his employee
arrested for extortion.
My first thought after hearing the story was that you just knew
the employee thought it was a good idea, a foolproof plan, when he
created it.
Though I hear about workplace ultimatums frequently, this is the
first I've heard of that ended with ...
