FIGURING OUT 'FEMME FATALE'

Viewers who see lace-clad supermodel Rebecca Romijn-Stamos on the DVD's cover and rent the new Brian DePalma thriller "Femme Fatale" expecting the standard sexy potboiler are liable to have their patience tested.

For the first 20 minutes - which follows jewel thief Laure (Romijn- Stamos) through a fun, intricately plotted diamond heist - "Femme Fatale" almost feels like a sequel to director DePalma's "Mission: Impossible."

But after the robbery plays out, the film completely shifts gears. Laure goes on the lam, assumes a false identity and becomes involved with both an American ambassador ...
