DOLL DOCTOR

A tidy stack of plastic bins sits tucked away in a corner of Rose
Ralston's prim dining room. Pull back the lid on one of the boxes,
and you might find a pile of little legs or a half-dozen porcelain
arms. Nearby, a lone doll-baby head silently meditates, surrounded by
a half-dozen whole dolls on her kitchen table.
Ralston's collection of scattered doll parts might startle the
first-time guest to her Salem home - especially considering she
doesn't have any children who could generate this level of doll
mutilation.
But Ralston doesn't give it a second thought. It's all part of her
