YOUNG bookworms and staff at a Birmingham school were celebrating today after receiving fulsome praise from a charity.

Pupils and teachers at Guardian Angels RC Junior and Infants, in Hurst Lane, Shard End, have proved that a new reading scheme has been a hit.

Bosses at The Sainsbury Charitable Trust, which funds the initiative, were impressed after a visit to see how it was being implemented.

Mark Woodruff, the charity's executive, wrote: "Thank you so much for an absolutely unforgettable visit to your school to see the impact of the programme.
