Solihull News: Survival hope for St James SHIRLEY: Independent ruling says school should stay open

SOLIHULL education chiefs were today urged to support a Shirley school saved from closure by an independent ruling - even though it only has 23 pupils.

Staff at St James CE School said they were delighted by an independent adjudicator's decision that it should stay open.

The borough's education chiefs wanted to close it because there were too many surplus places.

The council must now either adhere by the independent adjudicator's rul-ing or take the case to a judicial review, a move which could prove costly.
