From the curtained windows of her kitchen, Clarksville resident Charlotte Redman often is greeted at sunrise by a sight a naturalist would envy.

Small herds of deer, sometimes as many as 25, wander across the dew-covered grass in her back yard, just a jump away from the small stream and wooded fields surrounding her one-acre homestead on Trotter Road. The deer, undisturbed by humans, occasionally are joined by wild pheasants and scurrying squirrels and raccoons, Redman said.
