Competing measures eye growth

LOMA LINDA - Two competing ballot measures expected to shape development in the city for decades to come will be decided by voters Nov. 7.

The slow-growth group Save Loma Linda is pushing Measure V, an initiative that places strict limits on development of the South Hills and the rest of the city.

The City Council is sponsoring a competing proposal, Measure U, which aims to preserve the hills but doesn't change development standards in other parts of the city.

If both proposals pass, the measure that gets the most votes becomes law.
