Dorchester Pacific and St Laurence consider merging

Finance companies St Laurence and Dorchester Pacific are talking
about a potential merger after taking cross-shareholdings in each
other in a $29.6 million deal.
Dorchester said last night it was buying 25 per cent of unlisted
St Laurence for $19.8m in cash and through the issue of 4.77m new
Dorchester shares at a value of $2.05 a share. This will leave St
Laurence with 13% of Dorchester.
Dorchester shares rose 2 cents to $2.12 yesterday.
Under the deal Dorchester has also obtained the right to buy a
further 25% of St Laurence between April next year and the end of
March 2010.
