Canadians are subsidising the travel costs of Kiwi agricultural trainees so that they can work on their farms.

The Canadian branch of the International Agricultural Exchange Association (IAEA) has offered to pay $1000 of the young workers' travel costs to get to Canada.

Each trainee will now pay about $4800 to cover flight, visa, work- permit and insurance costs.
