Hieracium funding
|
A lack of funding is proving a stumbling block for farmers trying
to weaken the hold of the invasive, creeping weed hieracium on the
South Island high country.
The Hieracium Control Trust has successfully released parasites
that attack the five weedy species of hieracium.
The charitable trust co-ordinates the research, importing and
release of insects and pathogens against hieracium which invades
pastoral land on farms and native grasses in conservation areas.
