Cairns must push boundaries

I t would be foolhardy to discount the chance of discarded all- rounder Chris Cairns returning to the Black Caps one-day cricket team before this season is out.

The question is just how hard does 35-year old Cairns want to strive to play an active part at the 2007 World Cup campaign in West Indies.

The key to Cairns' chances are him staying sound, a problem throughout his 16-season international career. Back stress fractures, surgery on both knees, a dodgy ankle, recurring side strains and now hamstring injuries have blighted Cairns' career.
