Last election, the walls of "Fortress Wigram" were not breached, but they suffered a crack or two.

Long-serving MP Jim Anderton saw his majority slashed from almost 10,000 votes in 1999 to "just" 3176, raising questions about how secure his hold of the seat would be in this year's election.

Sadly for his two major rivals -- Labour's local veteran candidate Mike Mora and National newcomer Allison Lomax -- too much should not be read into that 2002 result.
