Sir--The Land Transport Safety Authority regional manager Dennis
Robertson says (November 25) "34 per cent of fatal crashes are from
excessive speed".
Would Mr Robertson please say over what period of time this
percentage relates to and provide details on how the LTSA (or police)
analyse the scene of fatal crashes to determine, categorically, the
cause of the crash.
Mr Robertson might also like to further enhance the 34 per cent
statistic by saying if excessive speed was the sole cause of the
accident and also his definition of excessive speed. Specifically,
