Takeover Panel cloud over Blue Sky offer

A deal between the firm bidding for control of Blue Sky Meats NZ
and Blue Sky's biggest shareholder is at the heart of the Takeover
Panel's interest in the bid.
The panel has frozen the offer until it discusses it at a private
meeting.
Hawkes Bay's Lowe Corporation, whose background is in hides and
hide processing, is offering 450c a share for Blue Sky, a meat firm
with turnover of about $95 million, at Morton Mains, Southland. Most
of its shareholders are farmer-suppliers.
Blue Sky's directors have told shareholders to reject the offer --
not because it is too low, but because they favour ...
