Grimsby maintained their eight-match winning streak away with a 3-1 victory at Sheffield University Bankers who, before the match, were joint leaders with Grimsby.

Grimsby knew they were in for a tough game as the Bankers had scored a total of 17 goals in their previous two outings.

Grimsby travelled away without club captain Richard Goodhand who had stayed home to organise the Christmas draw, leaving Simon Gibbons to act as stand-in captain.

Grimsby proved to be as unforgiving as the dreadful weather and were excellent value for the result.
