Yorkie leads small-dog charge

The American Kennel Club says the Labrador retriever is still the most popular purebred dog in America, followed by the golden retriever.

But watch out, sporting boys. The tiny Yorkshire terrier is gaining on you.

The registration figures, released in January, show that Yorkies are now the third most popular dog, beating the German shepherd and the beagle.

Just in time for the Year of the Dog, according to the Chinese calendar.
