'MERRILY' ROLLING SONDHEIM-CRAZY DIRECTOR SAYS DAYTON IS PERFECT VENUE

Merrily We Roll Along is one of those shows most of us have heard of, but not so many of us have actually seen. Despite a score considered by some to be Stephen Sondheim's most tuneful and accessible, the Broadway original sank after 16 performances in 1981, and occasional revivals have only dented the verdict.

Where others see a problem show, Dayton Playhouse executive director Adam Leigh sees "a misunderstood show. I feel it has a place, and that place is somewhere like here."

It doesn't hurt a bit that he's an admitted "Sondheim-head. I live, eat and breathe his work. No other composer ...
